Content Warnings Guide
Understanding content warnings on GMD
GMD Entertainment publishes serialized fiction across multiple genres. Some stories contain mature themes, graphic content, or depictions of trauma that may be distressing to some readers.
We use content warnings at the top of episodes to give readers the information they need to make informed choices about what they read. These warnings are not censorship — they are a courtesy.
Below is a guide to the content warning labels used across GMD.
Violence & Physical Harm
Violence
Physical violence, fight scenes, combat, war violence. May include detailed descriptions of physical harm between characters.
Gore / Body Horror
Graphic descriptions of injury, mutilation, disfigurement, or body horror. Includes visceral physical detail beyond standard action violence.
Death
On-page character death, murder, dying, or detailed depictions of mortality. May include grief responses.
Torture
Extended scenes of physical or psychological torture, interrogation through pain, or systematic cruelty.
War / Genocide
Large-scale armed conflict, ethnic cleansing, mass violence, or depictions of war crimes and their aftermath.
Animal Harm
Violence, cruelty, or death involving animals.
Sexual Content & Sexual Violence
Sexual Content
Explicit sexual scenes between characters. The level of detail varies by imprint and series.
Sexual Assault
Depictions of rape, sexual violence, non-consensual sexual acts, or their aftermath. This is one of the most commonly flagged warnings.
Abuse & Interpersonal Harm
Abuse
Physical, emotional, or psychological abuse between characters. May include patterns of control, intimidation, or degradation.
Domestic Violence
Violence or abuse within an intimate partnership or family setting.
Child Abuse / Harm to Children
Depictions of violence, neglect, or abuse involving minors. One of the most sensitive categories.
Gaslighting / Manipulation
Psychological manipulation, coercive control, reality distortion, or systematic emotional abuse.
Stalking
Unwanted surveillance, obsessive pursuit, harassment, or violation of personal boundaries.
Kidnapping / Captivity
Abduction, imprisonment, forced captivity, or deprivation of freedom.
Mental Health & Self-Harm
Self-Harm
Depictions of deliberate self-injury, cutting, burning, or other self-destructive physical behaviour.
Suicide / Suicidal Ideation
Suicide attempts, suicidal thoughts, or detailed depictions of suicidal crisis. If you are in crisis, contact your local crisis line.
Mental Health
Depictions of depression, anxiety, panic attacks, psychosis, PTSD, dissociation, or other mental health conditions.
Addiction / Substance Abuse
Drug or alcohol addiction, substance abuse, withdrawal, or enabling behaviour.
Eating Disorder
Disordered eating, body dysmorphia, anorexia, bulimia, or obsessive food/body behaviour.
Grief / Loss
Bereavement, mourning, loss of loved ones, or prolonged depictions of grief and its effects.
Social & Systemic
Racism / Discrimination
Racial slurs, systemic racism, hate crimes, or discrimination based on identity. May include period-accurate language.
Religious Trauma
Cult behaviour, spiritual abuse, forced religious practice, or depictions of religious institutions as sources of harm.
Medical & Reproductive
Medical Trauma
Graphic medical procedures, forced medical treatment, hospital trauma, or medical experimentation.
Pregnancy Loss / Miscarriage
Miscarriage, stillbirth, forced pregnancy, or reproductive coercion.
Language
Strong Language
Frequent or extreme profanity throughout the episode.
